I am honored to write about my own thoughts and experiences with the
First of all, whenever I am wearing my shirt, I enjoy the space and
opportunities it affords me to answer questions or entice stares from
inquisitive and ignorant minds alike. My ability to project my views non
verbally but aesthetically is something I as an artist appreciate deeply.
No matter what I do, I do it with purpose and BULLETPROOF™ apparel helps my
strong views about the importance of black life shine through.
Lastly, yet most important to my life, is the message; the proclamation
that we are bulletproof and that #blacklivesmatter! I have a three year old
black son that will one day be a black man and I absolutely understand the
power of the message and movement which allows him to see Mommy and
everyone else in the apparel in a "uniform" of solidarity. I am able to
instill in him pride and confidence to know he is worth it. His life
MATTERS! He is who we do this for. He will be able to grow in different
societal conditions then our generation and generations past due to our
hard work and dedication to ending the harsh cycles of discrimination.
My attached photo is of myself in my shirt with my son at a lantern
festival in Old Fourth Ward Atlanta where I was asked about my shirt by
adults and children of every race and background. It was a proud day to
explain why my son and I are indeed bulletproof.
